Trip to the Keys

Some of you had asked for pictures, I thought these three turned out the best, well not counting the ones of my granddaughter of course. I will show them later. The first one shows the old Bahia Honda bridge where the Flagler railroad ran
with some of the beach and camp ground. The next one is the Seven Mile bridge with Pigeon Key to the left and Marathon at the end more towards the right. We are about half way on the bridge. The last photo is another section of the Bahia State Park.
The beach and the water are about the only things in the Keys that I miss. If our daughter and grand daughter didn't live there I would probably never go back. Everything down there has changed so much and not for the better. It has lost it's charm and all of the old quaint places are being replaced with condos.....it is way over crowded, just to many people trying to get a piece of Paradise. When we moved there in 1974 it was so laid back, you could actually stand in the middle of US1 and not see a car for several minutes. Now it takes 10 minutes to even pull out onto it, and most of it is four lanes now.
I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and left that Friday so it was a short visit but a good one. We watched movies and went to the thrift stores. I went down the turnpike and back up 27, but no matter which way you go it is at least an 8 hour drive. Once you get off of 75 at the High Springs exit it is like stepping back in time. So once again in our lives we are living in the "slow lane" and we are loving it. It is good to get away but it is always GOOD TO BE HOME.

Welcome home Gail!
Nice photos...that water looks so inviting and the color is just to die for...
It sure is great to get away, but there's no place like home. :)

Beautiful photos! Sadly, nothing stays the same. Our little town has "exploded" since we've lived here and traffic is terrible. Still I'm always glad to return "home" after a trip.

It's the same here, Gail. When I came back to FL in 1986 and moved to the beach, there was so much green space and it was so quiet. Now, it looks like Miami. Condo city! Traffic, exhaust, rude people.....well, you know. Thanx for sharing the pics. You know, I have always wanted to go to Dry Tortuga. Bet it's still peaceful there! LOL

It does look like paradise - except for all the people as you said. Everywhere seems to be just exploding with people.

Well - enjoy your relaxing at home! I agree - it's always nice to be home!

Have a blessed day.
