Crafts & Cookies

I'm safe in letting you see this project as the girl that I am making it for does not read my blog. She is my pastors daughter, Amanda. She will be graduating this year and I wanted to make her a pillow that she can take away to college. It has a picture of her as a baby and a senior. You can click on the picture for more of a detailed shot. This one will be different than the one I made last Oct. for our oldest daughters birthday, in that it will be oblong instead of square, and will have fringe on two ends instead of all of the way around. I will take another picture of it when it is finished.
And now for the other thing that has been keeping me busy.....
Oatmeal cookies, which is my hubbies favorite, but of course they must have raisins and pecans in them. I meant to add a pile of pecans to the picture but I forgot. This area is great for growing pecans and you can buy them from just about anyone, however several people in my church have trees so, I always just say, "thank you and praise the Lord" If I were younger I would plant a tree but I've heard that it takes about ten years for them to bear fruit. Besides that we have no more space in our yard for another tree.
Well if you were here I would make you a cup of hot tea and offer you a cookie, and read you this wonderful poem that Judie wrote. If you do not know what I am talking about go visit her blog, she is on my side bar, the first one, called Art and Other Stuff. It is a few posts back and I believe she is talking about someone in a nursing home.......LOVED IT JUDIE !

Daytona Race, & Bye,Bye Babies

Where does the time go?
D.and C. pulled out of here about 9 p.m. last Sunday. We sure enjoyed having them here, and hated it that they had to leave balmy Florida weather to return to freezing rain and 20 degrees.
They even drove through Georgia while the area was under a tornado watch. They made it home safe the next morning. It is about a thirteen hour trip, and there is no way I could drive that straight through, those days are gone forever. It is all I can do to drive to our daughters house in the Keys, and that takes eight hours. I really wish we all lived in the same area.....but we are strung out from the top of Illinois to the tip of Florida. If you have all of your family close by you are truly BLESSED. By the way the kittens have adjusted to their new home and have the run of the place and best of all they are together, inside, and are truly loved. I miss their funny little antics, but was soooo glad to get my craft room back.
Resting up for the 700 mile trip home seemed to be a little more important than watching our favorite guy loose the Dayton's 500.
I'm working on a graduation gift and as soon as I finish that I will be able to get back to what we all call different things, from art, to craft, to just having fun. I hope to have some time to get around to visit you all soon. BE BLESSED! p.s. this is my first born "baby" D.

Valentine Brooch

I have no clue why this background is this color....the paper I used was a pretty pale pink? I did not have time to try and re-do it as we have family coming in from Illinois on Tuesday morning and I have lots to do, cleaning and all of the other things that happen when you have company coming.
This is made of clay, not polymer just the regular kind that you bake. I made the heart before I bought some polymer clay. I finally made it to Michaels and caught a sale so I was able to get several colors, so far I have only made two kinds of beads. As soon as the kittens are gone and I get my craft room back I want to try some new clay projects. Anyway back to the brooch, the dear lady in the photo is my mother's mother. I laminated the photo. Painted the heart gold, then painted the front inside the trim, red. Glued the photo on, used some red glitter and some red trim around the outer edge, used some tiny flower stickers, then sealed it all with a clear coat of polish. This is going to our oldest daughter for a valentine.
If I don't have time to post again before next Thursday, HAPPY VALENTINES Day to you all.
and when it comes to love I would be amiss if I failed to say: "FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER MIGHT BELIEVE IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. John 3:16
Now that is true LOVE !

ART by God

Some may have seen this already but I think it is so pretty I just had to share it. First I will tell you a little about it. It was taken in 2005
and it's hills east of Tehachapi, Ca. Someone had sent it to me on email before but I found it again the other day when I went on the snopes site where you check out things that are for real or not. My friend Janet had told me about that site before but I never really checked it out until I had ANOTHER comment about the pictures I posted from the Antartica. It was good to find out the pictures were the real deal but the story that went with them was not..... there are 17 of those pictures and they are very interesting to look at. You can also read more about this picture and see many others as well.
Guess I should try and finish a gift I am working on for one of my girls for Valentines day, I'll try to post it on the blog before I mail it out. If I had music to play for you on here I think today it would have to be, " The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music" BE BLESSED

Peaceful Place

This is just one of many roads that look like this, in the area where we live, and one of the main reasons we like it so much here. This picture was taken around Thanksgiving when we took some friends down to the Suwannee River. So this isn't even the lush summer time foliage. This whole area is covered with roads like this. Many have the big oaks that come together over the middle of the road making it look like a tunnel. Many of the trees have moss hanging on them and always make me think of a southern plantation. It is so warm and beautiful outside today I think I may take the camera and go for a walk.Leaving you with this thought to ponder.
Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will speak:for he will speak PEACE unto his people, and to his saints: PSALMS 85:7,8 BE BLESSED continue:

SILLY ME, I just realized that I've already posted that picture, (well I really like it) so here is another one that speaks peace.
