A few thoughts for June

Ahhh, the month of June, can you smell the roses. This was my grandmothers favorite month, also the month her youngest child was born, my mother. Born June 23, 1923 passed on April 25, 1985. She would have been 86 this year. You are missed dear mother of mine. It can be a lonely place in life if we have no siblings and our grand parents, parents, aunts and uncles are all gone. Yes I have a husband and children, granddaughters and two beautiful great grand children.....but when there is no one older than you left.....well maybe you can relate.
So I will count my blessings and be thankful for all the good Lord has brought into my life. June is also the month that the blueberries will ripen, we have a few bushes and they seem to have a goodly amount of berries, now to catch them before my feathered friends find them. I think I see a little bit of color, it won't be long now.

We have never grown blueberries before we moved here, one thing I did find out is you have to beat the birds to the fruit. Once they get some color on them here come the birds. I thought about a scarecrow with a sign, ......FREE SEED IN THE FRONT YARD! Think it would work?

I battle those berry-eating birds EVERY YEAR. Netting works unless they sneak underneath. This year I am keeping a vigilant eye on the blueness factor. The first "blue" one has been eaten and pronounced "not ripe." : ( But . . . at least my daughter made the announcement before any bird whisked away the berry. : D

June 7th was my Grandma Smith's birthday. And yes, I can relate to not having any older relatives. I have no aunts or uncles, or grandparents left either and being an only child there are no siblings. We're in the same boat!!

Gail, I understand how you feel...I miss all the Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents, and parents.
Arney's Mom just turned 90 on June 3, and because of Arney's knee surgery we did not go down to be with her. But Our oldest son and his family went down.
I put her picture on my blog today.
I love blueberries and they are so good for you. I don't grow them, but I should.
Love, Mary
